The Bondage Bed

The dream for most bondage enthusiasts is to have a setup that is flexible and easy to access. Unfortunately, for most of us who have friends and family over once in a while, another requirement is making our bondage setup discrete. That implies one of two things: having it behind closed (and locked) doors or simply keeping it discrete. Unfortunately, most discrete commercial solutions are somewhat lacking. From straps that go under the mattress to D-rings that jam in the door frame, they simply aren’t quite restrictive enough for the typical kinkster.

Unfortunately, in order to get our fix of tight restrictive bondage, we have to turn to our DIY capabilities. This article focuses on building a very flexible and restrictive bondage bench around a central piece of bedroom furniture: the bed. Although this project may cost short of 150$, it is very easy to do and most of the work can be done by the guys at your local hardware store. You’ll just have to do the final assembly.

The Base

This entire project revolves around changing the base of your bed frame. Most bed frames will come with a cheap set of bed slates. Although these may be adequate to hold up your mattress, they don’t quite cut it when it comes to bondage. Should you replace these slates with a solid sheet of MDF, you can create a platform that can serve as a bondage frame, as well as a bed frame.

Given the fact that you probably don’t have the tools required to cut large sheets of MDF, you can measure out your bed frame, figure out what size you need the sheets to be and ask the guys at the hardware store to cut the sheets for you. The MDF sheets (we would recommend 3/4in) will run you down approximately 100$ and the cuts will run you down another 5$. Much cheaper than any bondage frame you can possibly buy. Once you have this base, many possibilities open up!

The Restraints

Straps!

The first of possibilities is using this base in conjunction with straps. By cutting slots in the MDF, straps be run on the bottom side of the bed and form convenient loops on the top side of the MDF. Strategically placed, the straps will be able to hold down your submissive in a variety of positions. Used with the ring device, the straps can be easily adjusted to a tight and restrictive fit. A fun way of going about this is to have your submissive strapped down in some sort of spread-eagle position. Although fairly tame when only tying off wrists and ankles, with a sufficient number of straps, you can make it so your submissive will barely be able to move an inch. Pictured below is an example of this setup.

If you decide to go with straps, depending on the rings you use and depending on the straps you use, it is possible that they slip. If that’s the case, a simple solution does exist! Rather than use a conventional ring device, you’ll have to make a variation of it, which requires some form of a bar, or a third ring. In the last picture shown in the above slideshow, you will see this variation of the ring device used in combination with a pencil. Not the best looking assembly, but it works… and no longer slips!

Unfortunately, in order to cutout the slots for the straps, you will most likely need a router, and you probably don’t want to ask the guys at the hardware store to do it for you. Thankfully, routers are cheap to rent! That will allow you to take it home along with the sheets of MDF, lay out your hole pattern and route the MDF at your discretion.

Tie-down points

Another possibility is to use this frame to bolt on tie-off points. These can be placed on the bottom-side of the bed such that they be accessible when the mattress is on or, these can be strategically placed on the top-side in order to complement complex forms of bondage. Simply buy some dock rings at your local hardware store and bolt them down to your new bed base.

Plumbing?

Yes, plumbing. Galvanic pipe comes in a multitude of precut shapes and sizes. With the right base, you can kind of see galvanic piping as bondage LEGO. From a few base plates, you can assemble a variety of bondage frames on the fly! And what better base than your bed to do exactly that. Pictured below is a post we added to our bed frame. It screws in with four bolts which thread into a set of T-nuts. When you’re done playing with the post, simply unscrew the four bolts, disassemble the pipes and throw them in the closet.

All of the Above

Of course, nothing stops you from combining things. You can cut out many slots in the MDF for a variety of positions. Then, all you have to do is place the straps accordingly for your bondage session. Similarly, many tie-off points can be bolted into the from and only a few of them be used as needed. The idea is to get creative, without needing a locked room! Cleaning Up:

In order to hide the bondage bed, it is simply put the mattress back on. Unless someone peers beneath it, the bed will look like any ordinary bed. When you’re ready to play, simply remove the mattress and strap down yourself or your partner!

Self-Bondage:

The bed pictured above is actually rigged for self-bondage. Take a look at the electromagnet controller and the self bondage time lock for more details, and pictures of how this was done.

Have fun and play safe!
